About

Who Am I?

Hi! I'm Lucas Kiewek. I have a diverse background that has allowed me to experience firsthand the benefits of adaptability and cultural immersion. Growing up in Mexico, Shanghai, and Philadelphia exposed me to a wide range of cultures and ways of life, teaching me the value of being open-minded and flexible. These experiences have fueled my desire to continue seeking out new challenges and opportunities for growth, and I believe that this mindset can also be applied to design. I am passionate about creating designs that are versatile, resilient, and adaptable, and I see these qualities as an extension of myself.

My Experiences

Internship at Gradient.io Summer of 2020

I had the incredible privilege of working with the Gradient.io team. Gradient.io is a tech startup that is revolutionizing the way Amazon sellers position their products. My project was to Design and Build a browser extension that assists these sellers as they navigate and conduct research on the Amazon website.

Internship at Cocoa Press January of 2020

I worked closely with Ellie Weinstein, founder and CEO of Cocoa Press, on her chocolate 3D printer start-up. I helped her complete a valentine's day event by discussing marketing strategies, 3D modeling all orders, designing packaging, and printing out the majority of chocolates.

Counselor at GFS computer summer camp 2018

I work with 3rd and 7th graders in hopes of inspiring them to love and understand coding. Computers are such an integral part of our lives; it would be a shame if the leaders of tomorrow were oblivious as to how they work.

Assistant teacher at GFS robotics club 2017-2021

I work as the assistant teacher for the Germantown Friends School after school robotics club every Wednesday for 45 minutes. The job requires me to assist 2nd to 5th grade students as they learn about the fundamental aspects of computer programming.

Education

Education

I am currently enrolled in the Eindhoven University of Technology doing a Bachelors in Industrial Design. I have currently completed courses ranging from fundamental practices such as Calculus and Physics to creative courses such as “From Idea to Design” and “Creative Electronics” to in between courses such as “Data Analytics”. I will have completed my first year at the university by the summer of 2022.

I enrolled at GFS in ninth grade and I graduated in 2021. I was a straight-A high school student not because I think grades are important, but because I genuinely enjoy learning.

I was a new student in the sixth grade and a veteran in eighth. Nichols taught me to love math and science through the powerful actions of passionate teachers.

I am thankful for my elemantary school years at S.A.S. because they showed me that school is not about studying, but about learning.

I am a visual learner and websites such as Khan Academy and YouTube offer a seemingly endless amount of educational content. Youtube is my go-to place for learning new skills or clarifying complex concepts. I learned my first programming language, JavaScript, on Khan Academy before the eighth grade and taught myself Python and Swift the following year.
